if you’re like me and dream about crystal clear ice, welcome to this little adventure into home made clear ice. If you don’t dream about ice, then I don’t think you really care about this next post. Go use that crap the freezer makes.
I have done this several, several times, make the clear ice. It doesn’t always work out like I want, but for the most part i love it.
Anywhere you look nowadays people are explaining how to make clear ice. It doesn’t have anything to do with anything other than the speed at which the ice freezes. It’s a natural phenomenon for ice to become cloudy. When ice freezes, ice crystal form. Its just air trapped inside of the frozen water. The end. I don’t care if you boil the water 3 or 3,000 times. By the time most of you read this, I will be well on my way to Michigan. It’s Honey Time in Zia’s neck of the woods and the Kitchens will be closed this week and next. Sorry for the short notice but the Honey Man is only open for business one weekend every year and once again my calendar comprehension skills failed me. Anyway, Zia and I will be buying a few gallons of honey, enough to keep our family and friends sweet for the next 12 months — we hope.
